I can't repair Office 2003 because I don't have an Office CD (guy I bought PC
from didn't give me one for some reason) and I don't have the Certificate of
Authenticity. I've read some posts and I need these things to repair Office.
PC is custom built, using XP SP2. I think the file was destroyed during Disk
Defragmentation. Any suggestions?

You'll need to purchase your own copy of Microsoft Office.
Since you do not possess the Certificate of Authenticity or the
actual Microsoft Office CD, you do not have a legitimate
installation of Microsoft Office as an illegal license transfer
has occurred.

You might try the following:

Visit http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and download the free
Belarc Advisor. Run Belarc to view the Office Product Key and then contact
Microsoft for a CD replacement. Hopefully, it is a retail version and not an
OEM version.

What can happen if I don't replace this file? Does it only effect Office
applications? Because I was getting this error message when I opened other
applications(Spyguard, video encoding software). I got all of these to open
except Spyguard. MS Word opens no problem. I think I most likely lost this
..cab file after defragmentation. Thank you very much!

I do have an Office key (thanks to Belarc!). Now I forgot how to use it to
fix this problem. I know I read something about using the CD or Cert. of
Authentication to fix it but I can't recall where. I searched MS support and
MS communities but to no avail. Ideas?

The Windows Installer file for your Office setup is missing or
corrupt. To correct it you will need to zap the Windows Installer
entry in the Registry and reinstall Office. You'll need a Microsoft
Office 2003 installation CD.

Download the following utility and use it to remove only the reference
to Office. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall Office
to point the Windows Installer to your Office installation CD:

How to fix up lost SKOU11.CAB file

Hi all this is my first post and I hope that I can help you with this problem of the missing SKOU11.cab file. I had the same problem and found the answer on another forum, but unfortunatly I cant recall which one, However I did take a print of how to fix the issue and this is how you can fix it up.

In start / execute: Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >Software >Microsoft >office 11.0 > Delivery
You should have this key 90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9
click on it and (at the right of your screen), right click on CDCache key
and type 0 as new value.

It will fix up the problem straight away and you can then get all your office up-dates.
