Skipping when burning CDs and Mini Disk

We have a plexwriter CD burner and a new sony mini disk, player/recorder. We are having trouble with skips in the song that we are recording with both. We have turned off all program running in the back ground, but still can not get our songs to record right. Do we need to configure our hardware differently?? I'm thinking it should not be this hard... Thanks
 
Why did you mention the sony mini disk.... are you saying that both the
computer and your mini disk have the same problem..?

Yes, when I playback a cd burned with the plexwriter, and when we listen to the disk that we recorded,(songs checked out) on the mini disk, the songs skip throughout.
 
What is your machine spec's. Thanks
