Skipping the log in or Welcome screen.

Is there a way to set up XP Pro so that my laptop will
boot directly to my desktop and skip the log on screen??

Hi Steve,

Start/run "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes).

Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok and follow
the prompts to set up a default logon.

Start - Run and run the line
control userpasswords2

In that uncheck the box 'Users must give a user name. . .. ' and Apply -
you will be asked which account name (and password if any) should be
assumed
