There is a nasty trojan/virus out and I have heard many
things on detection of this thing... To start, this trojan
could/can sit dormant in your system and may also have the
ability to create a "hidden partition" on your drive that
is next to impossible to erase...

One thing I have heard is that the un-infected size of
Windows Explorer.exe is around 200kb., but the infected
size is a little over 900kb.

Was wondering if anyone can tell me what the size really
is, as my one on XP is 937kb. and the one on my NT is only
231kb. ...

Just wondering if this may be myth or fact... Thanks!

Thanks! I have the same - 973 as well, but this is not one
you will be finding in the encyclopedia's yet. My uncle
has been dealing with this trojan for some time - not word
of mouth or email - very real. Look into DRAT trojan and
you will see 1/3 of this vicious thing. Tech TV did a
piece on it the other night... to bad I was out of town,
but he informed me of it... Thanks Again and Happy Hunting!

Hi, D.

Google comes up with over 800 hits for "drat+trojan", but most of them seem
to be dealing with a 1999-vintage Trojan that should have been well-defensed
by now. Symantec seems to have a good handle on this one:

Do you have concrete information on this, or just rumors. Not that we
distrust you, but you yourself said, "Just wondering if this may be myth or
fact." It would appear to be a myth at this point.

Perhaps your uncle could post specifics. Does he have a good antivirus
program installed and functioning? Do you?

By the way, I'm running WinXP Pro SP1. My explorer.exe file is 996,352
bytes, dated 5/11/2003.
