Size of preview Pane

If you position the mouse so that it lies at the interface between the
message list and the preview pane, then you will see the mouse cursor change
to vertical arrows. You can then click on the mouse and resize the windows
relative to each other. If the preview pane is on the right, you can do the
same thing, but the arrows of the mouse cursor will be horizontal.

I have had a problem in Windows Mail (Vista) for quite a while now. I use
the Preview Pane all the time, and I have modified my toolbar to add the
button for it to easily turn it off or on, or display it horizontally or
vertically, and be able to turn the headers on and off.

But my problem is I can no longer re-size the Preview Pane itself !! In
either vertical or horizontal mode, it shows up at about the middle and no
matter what I do i can't change the size of it. I hover the mouse all around
the split area, with the header both on and off, and I can never get the
re-size arrows to appear !! Although once in a blue moon I have in the past
actually had the arrows show up and was able to make the size change. But
then later, back to locked in mode for the Pane size...... Closing and
re-opening Windows Mail doesn't help, rebooting doesn't help. I really
don't want to reinstall Vista just to fix this. All my Vista updates are up
to date. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem after searching the
forums. WHAT DO I DO ?!?

Anyone, please help me understand what is wrong.

Thanks.

I've had the same problem ever since Windows Mail was introduced. I
don't know if MS is ever going to correct this defect. Some in this
newsgroup claim this is not a bug and that you can work-around it by
changing your screen resolution or mouse sensitivity but the fact
remains that the external borders in Windows Mail and all other MS
applications are easily "grabable" at my (Microsoft's default) screen
resolution and mouse sensitivity.

For me this is an intermittent problem. Sometimes I am able to grab and
resize the preview pane but most times not. This may be an indication of
why it has not been corrected since the problem cannot be reliably
duplicated.

What does that have to do with the size of the preview pane?
You can make it pretty much any size you want.
