Sinking cursor

At random times my cursor will sink to the bottom of the screen, and will
not stay where I leave it, whether I use the touchpad or the mouse.

I had that once and downloading a new driver fixed it. That does not
mean it will work for you.
 
It might mean you have a virus, but I'm not really sure. Maybe you should get your computer scanned. That happened to me once, except the mouse went in different directions. It lasted for a while, but then it stopped eventually. Yours might too.
And saying again that I'm really not sure what to do, I guess this is something you can try
