sinister programs?

Now and then,my security system tells me that a certain
application with ".exe" is attempting to connect to the
internet.Sometimes to a destination with an ip and
sometimes without.I am suspicious as to why there is no
ip.Worse,the program doesn't make sense like names with
hh.exe or nsidio.exe and so on.Why do such idiots form
such stupid names??If i don't know what it is,how can i
make sure that it is not some spyware or adware sending
out personal info about me??

Make sure you update the program before running the same.
Personally I use both Ad-Aware and Spybot.
