Is there a suggested/preferred setup when at the office the notebook
connects to wireless and has a static wired connection? TIA

Your question is rather confusing...you say "connects to wireless and has a
static wired connection"; can you please explain what you mean by this? Are
you connecting both simultaneously? In addition, please explain what you
mean by "Static" wired connection.

If you have two LAN connections, one wired and the other wireless, the Automatic
Metric feature lets you keep both active, and use the faster of the two when
both are actually connected and working, or whichever one is working, if only
one.

Within that requirement, you can setup the wired and wireless connections as
dynamic, or as static, as convenient.
