How do I set up Microsoft Windows XP so that when the
computer reboots I do not see the welcome screen or any
user prompts. I just want it to reload my desktop. I am
the only user on my PC and this stuff is just an annoyance.

This solution does not work and there are a number of
errors in article 282866.

First, the errors.
1. "Turn Of Guest Accounts" should read Turn Off Guest
Accounts
2. Under the make welcome screen available step 4.
say "Click OK". This is not an option. I believe the
correct box to click is "Apply Options"
3. In the instructions to remove a password step 3. "Click
Remove my password." is not listed as an option. This may
be because my account does not have a password.

I still have the same problem. Guest accounts are
disabled, there is only one user account (which is also
the administrator) and the operating system is set up to
use the Welcome Screen. Upon start up, the welcome screen
is displayed with a single user option. Clicking that
user option is still required to display the desktop. How
do I eliminate that step?
