Please can someone advise (in Excel 2000):

1) How can I switch off the intellisense device that keeps trying to
put in text that I don't want.

2) If I open a linked spreadsheet and inadvertently select "Update
Links" I am prompted for a password for linked file. If I don't know
this and press cancel, it does nothing. It seems the only way out is
to crash out of excel and reboot. is it possible to set up so that I
can recover without crashing.

Many thanks.

Hi!

I guess I can do the first bit: try Tools|Options|Edit and uncheck th
box labelled Autocomplete..etc.

Hang on: I'm sure help will be along in a minute on the far more thorn
business of links.

Hi Tony,
#2 Not the best answer but at least there is no
need to reboot. Use Ctrl+Alt+del to get to the Task Manager
and terminate Excel under applications (tab).

As you have noticed in your own posting, asking unrelated questions
may delay responses until one person can answer all you questions,
or you may get only the answer to one question (perhaps your least
important question). Also makes threads hard to follow on Google
Usenet Archives when searching for previous answers.
