hi...
I have a question thats probably very simple, but I just want to be
sure.

I have my harddrive partitioned in to C and D drives. C has mainly
applications and system files, and then I use D to store all my
documents/files/mp3s/etc.

If I format my C drive, when I reinstall windows, will everything be as
it was before, and I won't lose anything in my D drive? I'm assuming
this is how it will be, and I seem to recall doing this before, but I
just want to be extra sure, since I would not want to lose anything on
my D drive...

Thanks very much for your time/help,
Dave

That is what is supposed to happen but it is always good to have your
data backed up somewhere else.

If you haved used EFS to encrypt any files export your keys etc. or
decrypt the files entirely BEFORE you reinstall.

You won't lose anything on your D drive, but when you reinstall your
programs you'll have to point them to the proper drive/directory to
find your data.

Simple answer; yes
That is the point of having the partition. If you have any installed
programs in d:\ program files they will no longer be installed, but
some programs respond to simply making a new shortcut
