PLease tell me in plain everyday talk,how do i fix the
problem with movie maker shutting down when I try to use
transitions and effects

Read the little 'Thumbnail' section of the Problem Solving... Acceleration
and Codec page of www.papajohn.org

If you need help understanding it or doing what the page says, it might be
best to ask a friend for 10 minutes of help.

You don't really give us much to go on but I would first think about the
possibility of your system not being powefull enough to handle the task or a
bad installation of MovieMaker to begin with.

Digital video editing is probably one of the "most" demanding things you can
ask your computer to do.
