simple PCI controller

Had to reformat hard drive and reload windows XP home
edition. Under hardware device manager receiving error
that 'simple PCI Controller Device' not enabled.
Attempted to load drivers from original disk but too old
(only had windows ME drivers). Computer purchased
through Atlas Micro Logistics. Motherboard is a BIOSTAR
M7VKB with AMD Thunderbird processor. Attempted to
download driver from Biostar site but still not working.
Anyone have any ideas? Can not get support from Atlas.

Bill,

That board appears to be a VIA based board, in which case
you should be able to use a version of the VIA 4 in 1 Hyperion drivers.

In device manager try right click on that device and chose uninstall, reboot
the pc and windows should reinstall.

If it says pci simple communications controller, it's your modem. Those are
the drivers you need, if you use a dialup modem. If it's onboard, the
drivers would be from the motherboard manufacturer; if it's a separate card,
you need to figure out what it is, and get the correct drivers for it.
