Trying to network my XP home machine with anotherXP home machine. Having
problems and I have read that I need to implement "simple fire sharing" (My
computer\tools\folder options\view Last check box).

My machine does not have that checkbox so I can not implement it. How can I
work around this, can I get it back. My computer tells me I do not have
permission to view and Im logged in as Administrator..

Thanx for your help

In XP Home Edition, simple file sharing is always enabled. Only XP
Professional has the option to enable or disable simple file sharing.

Tom,

If you have Windows XP Home, you have Simple File Sharing already. SFS isn't an
option with XP Home.

So what are your problems? Visibility (Network Neighborhood) maybe?

If so, check for misconfigured / overlooked firewalls, and for registry setting
restrictanonymous.
Misconfigured / overlooked firewalls:

Registry setting restrictanonymous:

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely:
<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp>

And please describe very carefully what you are trying to do, and what error or
problem you're experiencing.

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.

Beware:

Browstat may give falsoe information.

I ran browstat status are it shows that my windows xp machine is
master browser. However, when I open up the registry and look here:
1. Start, Run, regedit, look at HKEY_local_machine,
system, current control set, services, browsers, parameter ,
ISDOMAINMASTER

the master brower is my small business server
