Silly text/cell color format question

Recently upgraded to XL 2003 from XL97 (and from Win95 to XP Pro).

I have text in a cell that I want to hide from viewing and printing (nothing
fancy).

In the past, I simply set the text color to the background color, and the
text is "invisible" and also doesn't show when printed (afaik).
I have a file I'm working on now, and I've set both text and fill color to
"pale blue" on the color picker grid.

When I print in balck/white, the text shows as black and the fill is a light
grey, so the text is visible and distracting.

I checked print options and tools/options but didn't see any settings that
looked relevant.

How do I set it so that text and fill colors print to the same "hue" (shade
of grey) when printing to a regular laser printer?

TIA,
Keith

p.s. not sure if it matters, but the original content/format came from a
cut/paste of a table on a web page, although I've made significant
modifications since then (adding formulas, etc.)

You can hide the cell contents by custom formatting the
cell as ;;; .
