I do not like the name logon. How can I change it to my real name?
Thanks

You can't just rename your user account. You need to create a new user
named the way you want and then copy your old user account to the new
one. When you are sure the new one has everything you need, you can
delete the old user account. You need to log into the new user account
once before you can copy anything to it. Here are instructions:

Hi,

1. Start / Run compmgmt.msc /then click OK
2. Expand Local users and groups
3. Click on Users
4. Right click your username and select rename.
"Computer logon password" > wrote

That will change the account name but it does not change the name of the
folder for that user account under the Documents and Settings folder. Most
want the two to match, however, so in that case follow Malke's directions.

Hi,

I agree, Rock has a good point. If you do rename your login your
C:\Documents and Settings\<oldname>\ The \<oldname>\ Remains the same.

If you don't care, just rename as per my last suggestion.
Probably follow, you should, Malke's instructions (Star Wars Speak :-)

I have to thank you all very much for your replies. The question was very
poorly worded. What I want to change is my name "Computer logon password" in
the windows forum. I tried , but it did not work.
Sorry I misled all you nice people.

Oh my we were all off track, eh? Sorry, I don't know about changing your
name there. I don't use the web interface. It is, frankly, an awful way to
access what are actually Usenet newsgroups. Try using a newsreader for
newsgroup access. The experience is much better in so many ways. XP comes
with Outlook Express which can be setup for newsgroup access. Here is a
link on how to do that.

Oh yeah - I'm sorry we didn't understand what you really wanted. As Rock
said, none of us uses the web interface because it's so awful. Here's my
standard information about using the newsgroups and even though it
doesn't answer your question about the web interface perhaps it will be
useful to you anyway.

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are some
