My Web application needs to post every second. I'd like to avoid having to
hear the little clicking sound every time the Web page is submitted. An
obvious answer is to turn down the speaker but I'd like a more elegant
solution.

In Control Panel and go to Sounds. Scroll down to Windows Explorer and set
both navigation sounds to none.
