When I go into Outlook, I can't create a new signature. I unintalled office
and reinstalled it. I still can't add a signature. The box to choose the
signature is grayed out.

It's possible that you are using Word as your e-mail editor. In version 2002
and below if you are using Word the option for signatures is not available.
To use the signatures you'll need to turn Word off as the editor. To do that,
go to the tools menu and select options, then the mail format tab. Under
message format there should be a check box indicating what e-mail editor is
being used. Hope that works. : )

Not true. WordMail does signatures very nicely. The details depend on the
Office version, though.

Do you know why it would be grayed out then?

The signatures button, when you go to Tools - Options, then to Mail Format.
You can't create a signature because it won't let you. All of Outlook and MS
Office 2000 are installed on the machine.

Ah, this is the first time you've mentioned the Office version. WordMail in
Office 2000 uses an AutoText entry for the signature. The KB article at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=206751 tells how to create it in Word.
