Sidwinder Freestyle pro software install 3.02

I'm having trouble installing Sidwinder Freestyle Pro
3.02 Software on WIndows XP. I get this error
message: "Sidewinder Game Device Software 3.x installs
drivers that are incompatible with this version of
Windows. For more information, contact Microsoft". I
called Microsoft and they said this controller
was "unsupported" by them. I just need to load the
software. Please Help!!
 
The 3.x sidewinder software will not work in Windows XP.

The controller should work though
Goto the Game Controller Control Panel
Then Add, Microsoft Sidewinder (auto-detect)...
