I lost the CD to install the sidewinder joystick to use
with the Flight Simulator. What I found on the website
was downloading for Windows 95 and Windows 98. I have
just upgraded to Windows XP. Is there a Windows XP
program to download the Sidewinder Joystick and where can
I find it? Thank you

Hi Arleen,

XP has the drivers built in, no need to worry about that lost CD. :-)

Here are instructions for both the USB and the Gameport models:
While USB devices just plug and play, GamePort devices need work:

To install a GamePort controller, Plug it in, click Start / Control Panel /
Switch to Classic view if you haven't already / click Game Controllers
Click Add... / Select Microsoft Sidewinder Auto Detect / OK / OK.

Give this a try

Goto the Game Controller Control Panel
Then Add, Microsoft Sidewinder (auto-detect)...

Please note that any Profiling software that came with the gameport hardware
won't work as that was not designed for Windows XP (or 2000). There are
currently no
plans for updates.
