Sidewinder FF wheel on XP

I cant get my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Sterring
Wheel to work at all on Windows XP.
It works perfectly on Win 98
Surely these 2 Microsoft products are compatible? The
error message says not - unbelievable!

Anyone got any ideas?

If it's the USB model, you need to install the SW4 software and be
logged in as an admin.
