When computer starts up, the initial screenshot of
computer manufacturer is "right side up". The initial
screen for Windows is also "right side up. But, then when
windows starts to load, the screen goes sideways (exactly
90 degrees rotation to the right). It then stays that way
until I shut down the computer. My friends (IT pros) cant
figure it out.
Computer works fine, it shows the desktop and all icons
can be run -- it just looks funny since it stays rotated.
Mouse works fine too.

Is it a virus? I hope its just a setting that my kids
messed up.
I appreciate your help

I'm assuming you're running Windows XP. Do you have some
sort of flat panel monitor that allows you to pivot,
meaning rotate the entire screen for portrait/landscape
display? If that is the case, your monitor may be going
south. Also, try swapping out the monitor with a known
good monitor, see if you still have the problem. This
will help isolate the problem a bit more. If you're
still having a problem after that, try reinstalling your
display drivers.

Mark;
Your IT friends apparently don't know about Nvidia. See what this does.
Right click a blank area on the Desktop/Properties/Settings/Advanced/look for a
tab with your Video Card (mine is GeForce4 MX 440) click that tab and navigate
around looking for some thing like Rotate (mine is NVRotate) then look for
Options/Landscape, Portrait, Inverted. Change to Portrait (0 degree rotation).

Presuming it is not a joke virus -

Right click on your desktop and select Properties.
Select Settings then Advanced
Click Tab for your graphics card ie GeForce2
Look for rotation settings in that area

Perhaps an icon for this has been placed in your notification area - NVIDIA

Rt cilck on desktop> properties > settings > advanced and
see if your video adapter gives you a rotation option,
some monitors that will rotate like Viewsonic LCD have a
program that will do it too.
