Sidebar fails to open a boot?

I have been having this problem. At bootup, the sidebar shows the top + <>
panel but does not load any of the standard gadgets. When I place the mouse
over it I get the circle. All I can do is click in the area, get the Windows
Sidebar Not Responding message and close the program. If I go to start &
launch sidebar, it still does not open.

How do I reset or fix this?

Thanks

John
