Hi
I don't understand why computer SID ALWAYS MUST be unique.
Examples:
1) In a system without network filesystem and without domain
controller (no lanmanserver, lanmanworkstation, computerbrowser)
and the only communication done by applications using UDP and TCP.
What is the SID used for in this case.
2) In a system with network filesystem but only one computer
shares files. All other has the same set of users with the
same access rights on the share.
No Computer Browser service. (which translates
Computernames to Ipaddresses). Meaning (I think) that computer
names are not used. (I am using IP addresses in my "net use" commands).
What is the SID used for in this case.
I have tried to find information about this, but the only thing
I have found is statements like "every computer running Windows
XP is required to have a unique computer SID".
I don't want to use the cloning process if I don't have to.
My question is: Where can I find information about this.
(I have asked this before in this newsgroup but never got any answers).
