Shutting Down

I'm going to guess that this system is several years old
and uses APM (Advanced Power Mgmt). Go to Control Panel,
Power Options. Do you see a tab headed APM? Select it.
Check the box to enable APM. Now the PC should turn itself
off again. Thanx, MS - why did they default to breaking
this feature??

Yes, the PC has APM, it's from around 1998. The checkbox option does make it
work, and thank you again for your help!

Glad to hear it - I had that problem with a 1999 vintage
PC here and got the solution from this newsgroup some
weeks ago, so it's just a payback!
