Does anyone have any clues about a virus some little itty
bitty children wrote that shuts down your computer? NO, I
don't have the blaster worm. I have run every check
possible and I don't have it. For a week now my computer
has been shutting down and rebooting about once a day.
Last night I turned my computer on and from 3 until 9 it
would come up, shut down and reboot. I watched it do this
for 6 hours. I went to bed and when I checked it at 5 this
morning it was up. I have failed about 6 times today but
at least I could get some things done.
This could be a hardware problem. I don't have a clue.

I don't think it's the blaster virus either. I have seen quite a few
computers with this problem and haven't the slightest idea why. All are
running up to date AV software. They have had spyware removed. Removals
tools for viruses and spyware and no change. I have a firewall running too.

Thank you Lindsay. At least I know I am not alone and I
think you verified I don't have a hardware problem. I DO
NOT HAVE THE BLASTER worm Mike. I am using Norton 2003
Antivirus and Sygate firewall. I have downloaded all
critical updates. I guess just wait until the experts find
this problem.

In order to troubleshoot the problem, you need to disable the auto
re-boot action. Go to Control Panel>System>click the Advanced
tab>under startup & recovery, click Settings>under the system
failure item, uncheck Automatically Restart. When the computer
fails, it will give you the appropriate failure message.
