Windows XP shutdown is taking longer and longer (probably
over a minute now) What's the deal? How do I fix it?
Thxs!
.
try this,start--run--type in msconfig--enter--start-up
tab--uncheck everything--apply,ok--restart to take effect-
-when it comes on check the box for the config utility
don't show again,then OK---reboot the computer(it should
shut down faster, and start up faster)If that works go
into you antivirus and in the options select to have it
come on at start-up(that's all you need at startup anyway)
(you'll still have access to the programs, they just won't
be running in the background taking up RAM,and time to
shut them down, and start them up)If that don't work you
could go back into it and recheck all the boxes,OR the
ones you would like to run.Make sure if you have more
than one user name to do it for all,if there logged in as
you shut down it will take more time too.If your the only
user then don't worry.
