Shutdown way too long.

When I click on "Start" and then "Turn Off Computer" it freezes for about
five minutes and then the dialog box finally shows up to turn the computer
off. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Thank,

Jes

I checked www.aumha.org and saw that "Nvidia Driver Helper service" could be
causing the problem and disable it. I rebooted the computer and it shut down
quickly. I have to let the computer be on for a while to see if it is really
working.

I used msconfig today and disabled services and startup programs one by one
today. I got to a point where it was working and began to turn things back
on one by one and after a while everything was back on and it was still
working. I let it sit for a while and the problem was back. I hope the
"Nvidia Driver Helper Service" is the culprit. Tomorrow I will look for
updated drivers.

Thanks,

Jes

You might try "Hibernate" instead.

Put a shortcut on your desktop with the following "target":

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll SetSuspendState S4

On my machine, it's about a five-second shutdown and five-second startup.
