Sorry for posting such a trivial question, but this has aggrevated me for a
long while.

When going to the shutdown option window i now have a drop down list where i
used to have the three coloured buttons.

Is there anyway of reverting back from the drop down list to the three
buttons?

Cheers

Somehow you changed from Windows XP style to Windows Classic mode.

Check Control Panel | User Accounts and determine what is set for Welcome
Screen.
Also Check under Control Panel | Appearance

Unfortunately i can't view the screen which changes "the way users log on or
off" due to being part of a network. I am still on Windows XP Style.

Thanks for the help so far, but are there any other suggestions?? Or is it
not possible to change the setting??

Cheers

If you go into Display Properties, you can try some changes to see if you
can get the look you want.
Right click on the desktop and select Properties. In the Themes tab, you
can select Windows XP, Classic or others. In the Appearance tab in Windows
and Buttons are other ways to change the look. You can change your start
menu if you right click on the Taskbar and go to properties. If you go to
Help and Support from the Start Menu you can click on Customizing your
Computer or search for more information about ways to change things.

Yes if you are not on a domain. Go to Help and Support and in the search
area, type in Welcome Screen. What you are looking for is turn Welcome
Screen on or off.
