Hi

In XP, shutdown.exe can be run in the command line or GUI mode. Has this
been a concern (perhaps minor one) that anyone can play trick on anyone else
to shut down their PC ?

Is there a way to prevent this from a remote shutdown ?

Is there a way to restrict remote shutdown executing by a specific user or
computer ?

A user would need proper credentials to shut another computer down remotely. If you
want to restrict the use of shutdown in XP Pro you can use Software Restriction
Policies. A hash rule would be effective. If you find that you need to restrict
access between domain member machines, you could create an ipsec policy to do
such. --- Steve
