Is there some way to shut off the "send/don't send" prompt the occurs
when a program crashes? I would really prefer it just crash and get
out of my way :-)

Thanks,

Yes I hate it too.

Start- Run - Services.msc...

Find the Error reporting service - double click on it - set it to
disabled, and hit the stop button.

Disable Error Reporting.

Open System Properties...
Start | Run | Type: sysdm.cpl | Click OK |
Advanced tab | Error Reporting button | Check:
Disable Error Reporting | Check: But notify
me when critical errors occur | OK | Apply | OK

Disable Error Reporting
[[Select to disable error reporting. When this option is selected, error
reports will not be generated.]]

But notify me when critical errors occur
[[Select this option to have Windows notify you when a critical error
occurs, even if you have disabled Error Reporting.]]

Disable the Error Reporting Service.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Error Reporting Service |
If it is running, click the Stop button | Set to Disabled under
Startup type | Click Apply | Click OK | Close Services

Rather shoot the messenger you might try resolving the problem!

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for when the error occurs and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Naw, I'd rather shoot the messenger in this case. I don't need to send
error reports to MS. Their software is bug ridden, I know it, they
know it, they release it anyway (I've been there in beta testing
sending error reports to them whilst they concurrently released the
OS).

Thanks to the other folks for the help in shutting off this evil demon
reporting service.
