Hi can anyone help? the problem is when I shut down windows xp home edition it say saving settings, then shuting down, but then it freeze's, this has only been happening for a few days, the only way I can reboot it is to pull the plug out but when I re boot it it loads fine doesan't even do a scan disk any idea's ? thanks

You may have too many programs running when youshut down. Try closing all running applications prior to clicking on shut down. There maybe a program that is using all your system resources and may be hanging your system. Try this first and see what happens. Hope this helps

Did this solve the problem for you? I experience the exact same behaviour since the last major update, but have no programs running when shutting down?
