You could have your Network Adapter set to wake the computer up. Or your
BIOS could be not configured properly.

When idle for the set amount of time, my computer won't go into standby. The
screen saver turns on when it is sopossed to, the screen then goes blank when
it is sopossed to, but the computer won't go to standby at all.

If that is the case, could you please tell me how to check to see if my
computer is configured improperly.

Check your Network Adapters

start>run and type

devmgmt.msc

Look for network adapters, expand this group. Select the Adapter and right
click it. Select Properties, then Power Management. Make sure "Allow this
device to bring the computer out of standby" is unchecked or not selected.

First thank you for taking the time to help out. I did what you said up to
selecting properties, after that there is no Power management option. Do you
have any other suggestions?

Do you know how to enter the BIOS for your computer. If not look at the
Computer manual or Manufacturer's Support Web Site. There should be option
in the bios for Powering Down or Sleep State (S1, S3, or diasable).
