I had a problem with the fact that I needed to manually shut down my computer
and having read all the replies to my queries and having followed all the
suggestions I was still unable to correct it . I could not even shut down
from safe mode unless I used the power off button .

I thought it may be of value to others having the same problem so that's why
I am writing this post . In desperation I reinstalled Windows XP ,
downloaded all the updates again and LO and behold my shutdown problem has
gone . I thought this may help some other people . The reinstallation that
I did was an "upgrade"

Glad u got it fixed.
Let's hope u dont repeat whatever u did to cause the
problem. Imaging OS & archiving to DVD could save mucho
time.

Just my 2¢ worth. Larry

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)
