shut down does not complete

I've read other questions like this one. Rather than sending me to another
page where I have to read long complicted texts, can someone just write on
this post, how to solve this problem. PLease. The problem is that my computer
XP SP2 will not shut down, even after 5 mins. It stays at the saving settings
screen. If you know pls just tell me here.

The reason you (and others) were sent to the shutdown troubleshooter is
that there is no one-size-fits-all answer for everyone. Since only you
can see your computer, only you can do the troubleshooting. So no, I'm
sorry but no one can give you "the answer".

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
