How do I change the default shut down button from "Stand By" to "turn Off"?

XP sp2

I never choose "stand by," always "turn off," but XP does not remember that.

If you're asking how to only have the "Turn Off" choice, I'm not sure it can
be done. You might want to try this question in the windowsxp.customize
newsgroup.

I don't care if there are three choices there, I would just like the cursor
to default to the "turn off" button instead of defaulting to the "stand by"
button.

Thanks

Hmm, well, mine doesn't default to anything, I have to move it to the dialog
box and make a choice of which option I want. I still suggest you try this
in the customize group and/or possibly windowsxp.configuration_manage.

I use the keyboard to turn my system off (Xp theme style):
Windows key, U, U

Well, it certainly obviates the necessity of having the cursor in a
particular place.:-)

If you loose all the "eye candy" in XP, the classic view defaults to what
you "choose" the last time!
