OK so I have SP2 installed, and everything seems to be working Ok, so far..
Except for one thing, That isn't that Big a deal but.......

When I boot up window XP it used to present me with the welcome screen
that shows each users Icon with their name on it. Now, I'm the only
user on this machine, so there was only one presented, but it used to WORK.

It used to be I would click on this Icon, and then windows would finish
loading.

NOW since installing XP sp2, and the .net sp1 update after that
(windows update told me to) when I boot up my computer it just goes
straight to windows and doesn't show the welcome screen with the user
Icons on it.

PLEASE help me bring it back.

TIA

Hi Michael,

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, left click your user name then select the Users Must
Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click
OK.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Thanks Kelly I'll try that. And from your help in the Past, I'm sure
that'll work.

Thanks again.

Well Kelly, I just tried that (it was already checked) I unchecked, and
then RE checked it, Rebooted and when windows boots up it briefly shows
the welcome screen with NO names on it, then Immediately goes into
windows without any interaction from me.

Your Help IS greatly appreciated, any OTHER suggestions?

Michael

Hi Michael,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to these keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

Are any user values set to 0?

When you go here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Is there an AutoAdminLogon set to 1? And are they any values set here
under:

DefaultUserName
DefaultPassword
DefaultDomainName

If you aren't familiar with the registry, export the keys and email them to
me.
