Does anybody know how to make the OS version appear on the desktop like that

Download and install tweakui for xp. It has an option that will put the
version on desktop.

Hi Rully
Use the PaintDesktopVersion DWORD in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
by setting the value to either 0 or 1 (Disabled/Enabled). The change takes
effect next time you logon.

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP
Its General page has a check box (the bottom one)
