Show/Hide

I selected show/hide from the tool bar to remove formatting, but the
paragraph mark remains and does not disappear like the space marks etc. Does
anyone know how to fix this.
 
This sounds like an MSWord question.

If that's true, then in MSWord 2003 menus:
Tools|Options|View Tab
and uncheck the formatting marks you don't want to see.
