My computer had a virus so we decided to install windows
(XP PRO) all over again so it would be like a new
computer. We have no virus now and the computer is
working very well. The thing is that we just realized
that instead of make it "like new" we installed a whole
new windows XP and now to much memory is being taken up.
so we want to erase the old xp from the computer but dont
know how too??

Hard drive space is *NOT* "memory" RAM is memory - hard drive space is hard
drive space.

Also, formatting a hard drive is not a substitute for having a reputable
antivirus program installed and keeping it updated.

You need to do three things:

1. Use a firewall. Windows firewall is a joke, so use something like
Norton Personal Firewall or ZoneAlarm.

2. Install a reputable antivirus program, and KEEP IT UPDATED!

3. Check windows update on a regular basis, and *ALWAYS* download and
install all Critical Updates.

If you do not do ALL THREE of the above, then you should not connect to the
internet. Not only do you leave yourself open to infection, but your
computer will become a conduit to search for and infect other computers.
