Shortcvuts windows xp home

At one time I had shortcut icons on my desktop that I could click on and I
could go to my internal Cd and also my CD Burner. For some reason, they now
will not work. I tried to make new shortcuts from "my computer" to no
avail.Any Solutions or suggestions

When you say the shortcuts don't work, it would be helpful to state in
what fashion they don't work--which is general advice for asking for
advice in general, from the Department of Redundancy Department.

IF you are writing about shortcuts that suddenly state that they cannot
find their objects, and you see the flashlight searching therefore, this
is caused by a recent Windows XP critical update. MS is aware of the bug
in the update, but I've seen no update as to when the update will be
updated, which is also from the Department of Redundancy Department.

This is an alternative, not a cure. You can go into Windows Explorer
and drag these icons (separately) to the start button. Then they'll
show up at the top part of the start menu.
