Is there a shortcut for minimizing windows? I am finding it annoying to have
to go to the mouse each time, and I don't like alt-tabbing with so many open
windows.

Thx.

If you wish to minimize all open windows, simply click
on the "Show Desktop" icon located on the Quick Launch
toolbar.

Most apps support: Alt-Space to pop up the system menu (menu in upper left
corner of the window), then press 'n' for "Minimize". I use the Alt-space n
key combo all the time as mouse shunning user. To minimize all windows at
once hold down the "window" key and press the 'm' key.

Instead of minimizing popup windows, I would like to know how to delete all
these popup desktop windows that appear when I log on, instead of having to
delete them one at a time?

You need to provide more information - what pop up windows? Could be your
system has a malware infection? I have included some links for how to deal
with malware.

Also next time don't post your question as an add on to another thread -
called hijacking. Post a new question and include some details. At the end
of this post I have listed a link to information on how to make a good
newsgroup post.

Making Good Newsgroup Posts

I tried to post this as new and everytime I clicked on 'New' nothing came up
for me to let me post. The windows that come up are; mywebs.dll (can't find),
Yahoo Messenger, Dell, System 32. I know in the old versions of Windows
there used to be a key stroke that would delete all these. I know about
alt+F4 and WinKey+D, but I would like to know if there is one key stroke to
close all at once.

The problem you're having in accessing this newsgroup is because you're
using the web interface. It's lousy as you have found. It's better to use
a newsreader. XP comes with one, Outlook Express. Here is a link for how
to set up Outlook Express for reading a newsgroup.

Also please don't change the flow of the thread by top posting. I have
bottom posted, post your reply underneath mine.

You need to fix the underlying issues, not look for a keystroke that will
close all the windows at once. Have you thoroughly gone through the malware
removal links I gave you? Mywebs.dll gives no hits in google. If you
spelled it correctly, and it's not "myweb.dll" without the "s", then no
google hits is suspicious and suggests malware. If the file actually is
myweb.dll, that's associated with the .Net framework. Do you have that
installed.

For the system32 folder opening at startup see this link.
System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows XP, Windows 2000, or
Windows NT 4.0

For Yahoo messenger look in the program options for a choice to not have it
open on startup.

For the "Dell" issue you haven't given enough information. What do you mean
by "Dell" comes up. What exactly is it?

Here are some guidelines for stopping programs from opening at startup.

First step should be to check in the options for the program you don't want
to start and see if there is a setting to tell it not to run at startup.
The next step is to remove any entries you don't want from the two startup
folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

For anything else uncheck their entries in the startup tab of msconfig:
Start | Run | Msconfig | Ok

Another option is to remove the reference to them from one of these keys in
the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Make sure you have a backup of the registry using a program like ERUNT
before making any changes to the registry.

I just wanted to thank you for being so helpful. I used the MSconfig you
told me about and I deleted any reference to the popup windows and it worked.
Sorry to be such trouble to you, but as you can tell I'm new at this. Thanks
again for your expertize.

No trouble at all and your welcome. I'm glad it's fixed for you now and
thanks for posting the outcome.
