Shortcut icons to internet links changed

I had to reload windows and now when I create a shortcut on the decktop to an
internet site all of the icons are the Explorer icons. They used to be the
icons of the sites such as Fox news, the MSN butterfly, the Yahoo red Y etc.
What do I need to turn on to get these back? My desktop is BORING!

Ed these icons are called Favicons.

Thanks for the great answer. Deadlink did the trick and cleaned up some old
