Shortcut copy

Hello. I know the answer is probably staring me in the face, but I was
wondering how to copy a shortcut to a file instead of the actual file. i.e
I have setup in my "send to" folder a shortcut to a folder in another
person's account. What I want to do is, instead of right clicking on a file
and selecting the folder to copy, I want to automatically create a link or
shortcut to that file in the other person's folder. I hope I was able to
explain it all right? Thanks

If I am reading you correctly the process is to go to the
file you want the shortcut created for in Windows Explorer.
Right click on the file name and then select Create Shortcut
(near the bottom of the dropdown list.) Once the shortcut
is created (it will normally appear at the bottom of the
folder where the file is located) drag it (or cut and paste)
to the folder where you want to place it.

Yes, that's one method, but basically, let's say I have a folder in my
account with several pictures and I want to link them to a folder on another
account, is the method to use is to make a shortcut copy of all the files
then send the shortcuts to the other accounts folder? I'm real sorry, I
know this sounds complicated, but that's the only way I know how to explain
it. I am able to right click on file(s) and choose the sendto then the
folder I created, but only sends copies of the actual file(s). I don't see
a reason to waste disk space with two files that are say 100K when I can
just link to one. Sorry once more for the confusion. :)

Hi,
The other account would have to have admin privileges to access a file in
your user account, but you should be able to create a shortcut then move
that shortcut to the other account.

It might be easier to place the images/files in C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents (which will show up in My Computer as Shared
Documents.) That's what the Shared Documents folder is for. ;-)

Hope this helps,

Thank you for your reply. I was just thinking, I know how to create a
shortcut and share that among user accounts, but I'm trying to figure out a
way I can just right click and select to send to a folder as shortcut.
Basically, I don't see the need to have two copy's of a file when I can link
to just one.
Thanks again for your help.
