Shellcon Hidden Window

I am experiencing two problems, possibly connected. My Email program
(Outlook Express) freezes - I get a 'not responding' message in the
management box. When I reboot, I get 'not reponding' dialog boxes, and often
a message: "End Program Shellcon Hidden Window"

I'm running Windows XP. Suggestions?

The "ShellIcon" or "ShellCon" issue is caused by Music Match Jukebox
files (a legitimate program) processes starting with Windows.

Go to Start>Run and type (without quotes) "msconfig" [enter]. This
brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab and
find all entries relating to MusciMatch. Uncheck the boxes next to the
names, Apply and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the
next time you do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility.
Just tick the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this
again".

This should stop everything to do with MusicMatch Jukebox from starting
with Windows and you won't get the ShellIconHiddenWindow any more.

As for the freezing, we don't have enough information from you to give
you focused troubleshooting. I would start by making sure your computer
is completely virus/malware-free. Here are steps to follow:

Thank you. I'll remove the MusicMatch and start work on the balance thru the
link you provided.

What if all your music is downloaded into Musicmatch and you do not want to
remove the program from your PC? Is there any other way to fix the
ShellConWindow issue?

Thx,

Peace and Think Unique!!

If you are referring to a Shellicon.exe message when you start your computer, you
can simply start MusicMatch when you need it rather than having it start with
Windows.

To turn off its starting with Windows, do this:
Click Start> Run, type: msconfig
|Click OK|

Click the Startup tab, and uncheck the boxes (usually 2) referencing MusicMatch.
They will probably mention:
MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mm_tray.exe
MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mimboot.exe

Click OK then reboot. You will get a message box when you restart, saying that you
are using the system configuration diagnostic. Select the box to "not show me the
message again" and click OK.
