Shell problem: SP2 causes slower boot

I have Acer notebook (aspire 1356LCi) with AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+, 512
MB DDR RAM and 60 GB 7200rpm UATA hard drive. Operating system is
originally Windows XP Home edition with SP1.

There has been no problems with SP1 but when I installed SP2 (final
release) a couple a weeks ago computer started to boot quite a bit
slower than with SP1. I traced the issue with Bootvis (the latest
version) and it shows that Shell starts remarkably slower than it did
with SP1.

Shell Starting times:

SP1 Shell: 0.79 sec

SP2 Shell: 12.47 sec

You can see detailed information about Boot Activity and Driver Delay:

My both installations are very much alike (only difference between SP1
and SP2 measured here is that I have disabled the internal modem in
SP2 installation but that does not affect upon the shell problem).

I have defragged system partition many times and also used bootvis to
optimize it. No help.

I have made a new User Profile and that helped awhile but after a few
reboots the situation is still the same.

Is there still something I could try?

I have Image files (both SP1 and SP2) therefore I can restore which
one I like whenever I like.

I have also installed SP2 to my desktop (with XP Pro) and there has
not been any problems. Booting time is also as quick as it was with
SP1.

Thanks in advance for any help,

I don't have sp2 yet, seem microsoft is holding back
automatic downloads and hasn't appeared for 5 days. So
can't be much help. But I'm interested in your image file
for sp2 (similar to xpsp1a_en_x86.exe, only for sp2. Did
you get it from a website or is from cd. If you got it
from a website please post or e-mail to me
(e-mail address removed) I could really use it for my
rescue disk.
