sharp vl-z1 camcorder won't record

according to sharp customer service, my camcorder has the capability to record video uploaded from MM2. However, as I'm trying to do it, the mm2 software recognizes there is a camera attached to it but says it's incapable of recording. I'm trying to upload a funeral video for a friend to make a VHS tape and I'm running into problems. I've worked on it for 2 days and nothing. Please help me!!!
 
This is a common problem and can be overcome by using a different app to
output the avi file. Use something like windv, http://windv.mourek.cz/
