Sharing with only a few

I work on a network and I have a folder on my hard drive
that I want to share with only a few of my coworkers. I
printed off "Use Access Control to Restrict Who Can Use
Folders" and tried that, but it will only let me select
users on my personal computer, not users from the
network. How do I add my network as a location from
which I can pick users?
Thanks!

Without a domain controller (and therefore a domain) you don't. What you
can do is add users to your computer who you want to access shared folders
and allow them access, then other users won't be able to access them.

Alternatively, you can create a share with a SECRET$ sharename, and
only tell the SECRET$ to your friends. The trailing $ sign in the
name prevents your PC from exposing the sharename. This form of
protection is rather weak, but it is supported under XP.

Or you could try to create an encrypted folder and only tell the
Encryption key to your friends. Requires XP PRO, since XP HE does
not support encryption.
