I'm new to Outlook (2003) and using a LAN. The LAN is up and running fine.

I'd like to access the *.pst file on machine A from B. I've tried Open
Outlook data File but can't seem to see it. I've "unhidden" system files.

There must be a basic concept I'm missing - and appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.

outlook doesn't support LAN access to the pst.

I don't need to be able to update the file while other users are accessing
it. Does that make a difference ? If so, how can I "access it" ?

no, it doesn't - accessing a pst over a network results in corruption, but
if you don't care about potential data loss, then you'll need mapped drives.

As long as one instance of Outlook has a PST open, no other instance can
open it, since every instance requires exclusive read/write access. So,
even if you do create a network share containing a PST, only one Outlook at
a time will be able to access it.
