Hi,
I have a workgroup with win2k pro, winXP pro and win98 machines. One of
the XP machines does not show the Permissions button on the Sharing tab
of the properties sheet for the local hard drives, and I've also noticed
that the Security tab is not visible either. This is creating a problem
because I want to be able to remove "Full Control" from the "Everyone"
group that seems to be set at the moment - someone on the Windows 98
machine can browse the folders on the XP machine without authentication
(which I do not want!).
Also, if I go through Computer Management - Shared Folders - Shares and
right click a share, the only options on the menu are Refresh and Help.
I cannot create a new file share there or change the properties of any
of the existing shares.
I've also noticed that I cannot connect to this troublesome machine via
Computer Management on another computer on the network, (but can connect
the other machines), I get an "Error 5: Access Is Denied" error.
In all cases I am logged on as a member of the Administrators group. I
don't have these same problems with another XP machine on the same
workgroup.
Can anyone help? Thank you very much - it's creating a bit of a headache.
Roger
